At around three to eight years old, a penguin is mature enough to mate. After mating, the female emperor or king penguin will lay a single egg. All other species of penguins lay two eggs. The two parents will take turns holding the eggs between their legs for warmth in a nest. When penguin chicks are ready to hatch, they use their beaks to break through the shell of their eggs. This process can take up to three days. After the chicks emerge, the parents will take turns feeding their offspring with regurgitated food.
[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://logan.nmd.louisrielatc.ca/playground/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/penguin-on-snow-.jpg” alt=”Penguin on snow” title_text=”Penguin on snow” _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://logan.nmd.louisrielatc.ca/playground/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/3141641559_fe325efa91_b.jpg” alt=”Penguin with food” title_text=”Penguin with food” _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]
The taxonomy of penguins, according to ITIS, is:

Aptenodytes forsteri (emperor penguin)

Aptenodytes patagonicus (king penguin)

Eudyptes chrysocome (southern rockhopper penguin)

Eudyptes chrysolophus (macaroni penguin)

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_divider _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_divider][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_heading title=”Penguin Gallery” _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” title_text_align=”center” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_heading][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=”252,250,249,247,246″ gallery_orderby=”rand” fullwidth=”on” _builder_version=”4.22.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_gallery][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Penguins are a group of aquatic flightless birds.
